Chromeo – “Come Alive” (feat. Toro Y Moi)

Pairs Well With…Miami Horror, Cut Copy, Hall & Oates

This year for Chromeo, it is all about White Women. For the veteran electro-funk duo (She’s In Control is a decade old now), the time is ripe for their disco and R&B-infused electronic funk. The lead singles from the album, due this May, are sparkling slices of pop and are set to draw even more fans to their established sound.

2011 Review: an electronic pop act from Montreal with a twist of R&B. Chromeo may be one of the most fun acts on SXSW’s artist roster. They combine dance, disco beat, and modern electronic elements with poppy R&B to create a truly unique sound. Chromeo isn’t shy from utilizing some of the same approaches as 80’s pop hits, heavy on synth, new wave, and catchy choruses. The experimental edge that Chromeo incorporates is what separates them from their peers in the electronic pop scene. They find a great middle ground without getting too far out, always focusing on the pop elements of their songwriting.
